On Monday 17 February, Melville welcomed many special guests and VIP’s to the school as the official opening of the $5 million dollar performing arts center commenced. VIP attendees to the event included Premier, the HON Mark McGowan MLA, the HON Sue Ellery Minister MLC for Education and Training and Ms Lisa O’Malley, Member for Bicton MLA. Other guests included the very generous and appreciated parents and friends of Melville Senior High school who raised an extra half a million dollars for the Performing Arts Center, enabling it to become the world class facility we see standing today. The program for the afternoons opening included performances from some of the very students who the PAC will benefit the most, the music students. Melville’s toe-tappingly delightful swing band performed two songs before the classical guitar ensemble delivered some light music whilst afternoon tea was served to guests. Principal Mr White received many compliments on both our students and campus, among them including “This is the best looking performing arts center I’ve ever seen” and “The swing band were the best I’ve ever heard them!”
This new facility is just another reason why Melville is able to offer a world class education and are the school of choice for the local and wider community.
