Applications for Students Living Inside the Local Intake Area

Melville Senior High School is designated as a local intake school.

Students, their family, or carers MUST LIVE within the school boundaries at the time enrolment commences.

Local Intake Enrolments

Enrolling your child is normally completed through the primary school your child attends. Enrolment information is distributed to primary schools in Term 1 of each year. Parents are required to complete an application form and submit for processing.

Students intending to enrol in Year 7 must submit an application by 1 July of the year prior to Year 7.

Late and incomplete enrolment applications may miss subject selection, parent evenings and transition day. Parents wishing to enrol students after the school term or school year has commenced, need to complete an application for enrolment and make an appointment with the school to discuss their circumstances.

Proof of Residence 

Parents or carers need to provide:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Latest school report
  • Proof of address
  • Immunisation papers
  • Immigration papers and details if not a permanent resident.

Expression of Interest for Out of Area Enrolments

Limited places are available to students living outside the local intake area.

Students living outside the local intake area may apply for consideration in our Aviation, Gifted and Talented, Graphic Design Media and Netball Specialist Programs.

More Enrolment Information

Voluntary Contributions
Funds requested from parents that go towards the cost of resources, services and facilities used by students in their educational program. Voluntary contributions are based on choice of subjects but will not exceed $235.00 per year.

Compulsory charges

In Years 7 to 10 fees and charges that relate to optional activities chosen by the student, parent or carer that include high cost components are compulsory. Participation is voluntary, but a charge is payable if the student opts to participate.

Note: Compulsory charges apply to all Year 11 and 12 courses.

The Department of Education provides an allowance to assist eligible families or carers with secondary schooling costs through the Secondary Assistance Scheme (SAS).

Parents or carers who hold one of the following cards are eligible to apply for secondary school assistance before the last day of Term 1.

  • Centrelink Family Health Care Card
  • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
  • Veteran’s Affairs Pensioner Concession Card

To apply:

  • Application forms are available from the school Office Administration.
  • Applications are to be completed as soon as possible as we must submit completed and witnessed applications forms to the Department of Education.
