Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Information
Melville SHS supports the philosophy of using Information Communications Technology (ICT) based pedagogy and approved technologies to support the teaching and learning program in the school.
The school provides staff and students access to the school network to use online services for educational purposes with school owned resources as well as approved personally owned devices.
We are a Bring Your Own Device School (BYOD) and this is defined as a tablet or laptop to be used to support the educational outcomes for students at Melville SHS. A mobile phone is not an approved device. Please refer to the Mobile Phone Policy.
All approved personally owned student digital devices must:
- Be an up-to-date Tablet or Laptop.
- Be able to receive OS updates to maintain its security status.
- Have a strong protective case with a keyboard.
Devices can be purchased from a supplier of your choice or leased on a 6-month interest-free plan from Winthrop Australia Learning – Digital Devices.
Refer to our Digital Devices Policy and Mobile Phone Policy to review access to the school network for educational purposes, using school-owned resources, approved personally-owned devices, or consequences for a breach.
