Technologies

Our Technologies program is designed to equip students with 21st century skills, knowledge and technologies to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.  
Our curriculum covers a wide range of disciplines, providing students with hands-on experience and practical skills that are essential for future careers in engineering, food technology, textiles, and materials design technology.

Students engage in project-based learning, collaborative activities, and the use of cutting-edge technology to explore and innovate.

Why study

At Melville Senior High School, students begin their learning journey by applying their knowledge and understanding to practical activities, using the design process to create innovative products. As they progress, they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling them to refine their ideas, plan effectively, and implement improved procedures to construct their own innovative solutions with confidence and independence.

Graduates of our Technologies Studies program will:

Program

Technologies involves designing and producing innovative and creative products to satisfy human needs and wants, extending capabilities, realising opportunities and identifying sustainability issues and consequences. The subject is a broad field of study that draws on various subjects, including:

  • Food Technologies

  • Materials Design
  • Digital Technologies
  • Aviation Studies (Approved Specialist Program)
