Vocational Education and Training

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in schools enables students to achieve a national vocation qualification under the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) whilst competing their WACE achievement.

VET is taken as part of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and completing qualifications provides students with a wide of school options and pathways.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) offers practical, hands-on learning experiences that prepare you for a wide range of careers.

By the end of Year 12, students will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate II or higher at school as part of their senior school selection, complete an endorsed programme called Authority Developed Work Placement Learning (ADWPL), engage in School Based Traineeships (SBT’s) enrol in Fee for Service (FFS) programmes and enrol in TAFE to prepare for further training and/or employment.

Year 11 and 12 Vocational Pathways Program (VPP) 

The Vocational Pathways Program (VPP) is designed to support students pursuing entry into TAFE, apprenticeships, employment, or university through alternative pathways. This program integrates school, industry, and training partnerships, allowing students to work towards their secondary graduation while gaining valuable workplace experience.

Program Structure

VPP students attend school three days a week (Monday to Wednesday) and spend the remaining two days in a work placement or an external course at TAFE or a private Registered Training Organisation (RTO). All certificates completed through TAFE, school, and Workplace Learning (ADWPL) are accredited by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and contribute towards WACE, just like other school-based courses.
