In Week 3 of Term 2, Melville Senior High School invited members of the local Noongar community to attend a Morning Tea with the executive team for discussions about Aboriginal Engagement across the school, and to gain a better understanding of cultural direction going forward. Some fantastic aspects discussed during the casual morning tea included dual naming buildings at Melville SHS to include Noongar language and ideas for inclusive artistic displays across the school.
It was great to hear from one woman who has lived locally for 30 odd years and is widely known as an active member in the community. She attended Melville SHS herself, as did her children, grand-children, and nephews. Melville SHS has been actively looking at ways to better engage with the community and hopes to grow conversations and partnerships to better work towards our vision of achieving excellence today and building bright futures for tomorrow. Thank you to all members of the community who attended this Morning Tea event.
